8 but ye will receive power, the Holy Spirit having come upon you, and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

9 And having said these things he was taken up, they beholding [him], and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10 And as they were gazing into heaven, as he was going, behold, also two men stood by them in white clothing,

11 who also said, Men of Galilee, why do ye stand looking into heaven? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven, shall thus come in the manner in which ye have beheld him going into heaven.

When my sister and I were between four and five years old, we would wake up before my dad went to work. We would have breakfast as a family and then dad would head for the door to go to work. He would give each of us a hug and then he would say something like, "Clean up your rooms while I'm gone." or "Have the yard raked when I get home." And he would be out the door.

During the day we would play and goof off. My mom would occasionally remind us of what our father had told us to do. And sometimes we would do it. (Mainly that was when we would want to ask our dad for something. Sometimes we would do it if it was his birthday or another special occasion.)But mostly we had our own agenda and couldn't be bothered.

We would play most of the day, and that afternoon, mom would say,"It's time for your dad to be coming home." And we would run to the front window or into the front yard. We were ready for dad to be home! We had missed him!

Into the drive would come his car. He would get out, and we would run and each of us would grab a leg. What a great time!

He would bend over and with a big smile he give each of us a hug. "It's good to be back. Did you do what I asked you to do today?"

Like my dad, Jesus has gone away for a while. But He is returning. And like dad, Jesus has given us something to do. And like our mom, Jesus has left the Holy Spirit with us to help us and remind us of what we have been given to do. And like dad, Jesus will return.

What will your answer be when He returns?
