Genesis Chapter 1
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
The book of Genesis is called The Book of Beginnings.
It is fitting that you need to begin your journey with God here.
In this first verse we see "in the beginning...". God doesn't have a beginning. God created the beginning.
"...God created the heavens and the earth." This means out of nothing God created everything.

Day 1
One of the first things God did was bring forth light. He did this by speaking. No sun, no moon, just light. And the light He separated from the darkness. And it remains so today. Light has no fellowship with darkness. When there is light, darkness disappears.
Day 2
God made the sky. The sky separates the water above (clouds) from the water below (oceans, seas, lakes).

Day 3
God separated the water (formed oceans, seas, lakes,). God said let the land produce seed-bearing plants, and trees that bear fruit.
Day 4
God spoke and made the sun, moon, and stars. These would be used to mark days, nights, months and years. They would be used to determine times to plant and harvest crops. They would be used to determine when to celebrate sacred times (holidays, festivals , times of sacrifices to God.)

Day 5
God spoke and brought forth creatures living in the water and the birds of the air. God blessed them and told them to increase in number.

Day 6
God said let the land produce animals that move along the ground.
God said "Let us make mankind in our image." And God said let mankind rule over the earth and subdue it.

God saw everything that He had made and it was very good.
People have imagined different ways the universe came into being. How do you believe everything was created?
How long do you think it took God to finish His work?
Why do you think God created things in the order He did?
God created everything, except man from nothing. Can you create anything from nothing?
In whose image did God create man?
"You are a most wonderful, powerful God. Thank you for all that you have created."
Today, look at everything around you. Realize that nothing exists that God didn't make. Nothing.
Pray: Thank God for all things. Speak some of the things you are most thankful for.
